The concept: At the beginning of 1999, this project concept was
initiated by VDI nachrichten and Fleischhauer, Hoyer & Partner, management
consultants specialized in venture capital and private equity. It consists
of regular analyses of venture capital activities in Germany (part of
the private equity market).
The goals:
- Achieve transparency in the startup / innovation arena
- Create a broad information base for venture capital as financing tool
- Increase acceptance of venture capital financing
- Set up a platform for marketing activities by VC firms
- Build a marketplace for companies in search of capital and investors
- Establish a network for all parties involved (entrepreneurs, venture
capitalists, banks, attorneys, tax consultants, management consultants)
The content:
- VC map of Germany: How is the investment volume distributed across
individual states
VC "fever curve": Quarterly development of investment volume
(new investments in the last three months)
- VC sector ranking: Which sectors attract the most investments?
- Top ten VC firms: Which early-stage investors invested the most money
in the last quarter?
- Indicators of the German VC market: Ø investment volume, etc.
- Special questions that reflect the current climate and indicate new
trends
The implementation:
- Focus on early-stage investments (seed/startup)
- Quarterly data collection
- Set group of participants comprising leading VC firms
- Publication in the VDI nachrichten, Handelsblatt, and other media
partners (Going Public, FAZ, etc.) incl. comments on market development,
portraits of VC firms, interviews with entrepreneurs, current reports
on VC markets in Europe and the US
